Etsy is an online market for crafters and artists to sells their works. If you want handmade items made from people who are passionate about their work, this is the place to visit. The other day I decided to see if there were any products made for people with disabilities on Etsy. I came across a few shops that made walker and wheelchair bags. I also came across some shops that sold “handicapped symbol” jewelry! Anyway, most of the shops that sold walker and wheelchair bags had pretty plain patterns or what I’m going to call granny prints. Two shops though stood out from the rest with fresher designs. They are MoBella Bags and Hooks ‘n’ Needles.

MoBella Bags is owned by Josie Cullather, and she states that “MoBella is all about making mobility more beautiful”. I believe she has done this by making some great looking bags.  From the funky flower print shown at the top of this article, to the damask print above. Both are cool and contemporary. All of her bags are made from durable, high quality fabric and feature magnetic clasps for easy opening, closing and adjustments. Visit her shop to see more of her product line, make a purchase, or request a custom item.

Hooks ‘n’ Needles is owned by Joyce who has been sewing and knitting for about 50 years! She knows what she’s doing here. Joyce was inspired to make walker and wheelchair bags after assisting people with wheelchair transportation for seven years. Finding that she and her clients had difficulty holding paperwork during transportation. Her bags are made with heavy duty cloth on the inside and stylish brocades on outside. Adjustable straps make the bags flexible for many types of walkers and wheelchairs. She also plans to make bags that are geared more towards men in the future. Visit her shop to see more of her product line, make a purchase, or request a custom item.
