The Wave House Residential Elevator

When putting in a residential elevator, there’s the decision as to whether make the elevator stand out or be hidden. Usually the choice is hidden and the usual way is behind a wall and having the door blend in. When making the Wave House off the coast of Vancouver, Kliewer Bros. Construction also of Vancouver, decided to go a different way with hiding a residential elevator.
Hidden In Plain Sight
Situated just off the kitchen, the elevator is hidden behind wood panels and a gorgeous wine bottle display. The dark wood panels encase the elevator shaft with the door not being exactly obvious. Since the shaft helps enclose the kitchen and acts as a wall, nothing seems out of the ordinary.
Add Some Wine
On the face of one wall is where the glamour comes in. Here there are columns of dozens of wine bottles neatly organizes as they lay horizontally. The wine display is itself encased in glass. With glass doors that open when it’s time to pop the cork. At the bottom are smooth black stones. Accent lighting then comes from the bottom and top.
Conclusion
While we all couldn’t afford to have an elevator with this luxurious a finish and display, it can give inspiration. Instead of wine bottles other decor or items could be used. To see more of The Wave House and to see more of  Kliewer Bros. Construction’s work visit www.KBCDevelopments.com.
