A great trend that is starting to appear in bathrooms are showers with no threshold. These are being installed not necessarily for accessibility, but for the looks. Which is a great trend because when accessibility does become an issue, adding adaptable features does not involve a major renovation. A great example of this trend are these roll-in showers in Munnar Villa in India by Bangalore interior design company Savio & Rupa Interior Concepts.

Shower 1
The shower pictured above as you can tell has no threshold with a drain that appears to be in the corner. A tall and elegant shower system with a shower head, hand held shower, and body sprays is mounted on the control wall. The valve for the hand held shower is pretty low to the ground so there might be some reaching there. Lights in the ceiling above the shower give adequate light while cleaning up. Grab bar installation would be a simple task to make the shower more accessible. The bathroom is tiled with black and gray tones in a modern and mature feel. If you’re wondering what the hose by the toilet is, it is a hand held bidet. Most of us in the U.S. are still not regular bidet users but they can be both sanitary and an assistive technology product.

Shower 2
This second shower is functionally the same as the first one. Same roll-in feature, shower system, and lights. Color scheme wise there is more warmth with wood tones and cream colors. I’m pretty sure the wood panels are actually ceramic or porcelain tiles with a wood look. Allowing a wood textured look with added durability and water resistance.
