Palmer Industries Electric Outdoor Scooter

So is the picture above of a scooter or a golf cart? Well it’s a little of both but is officially an electric outdoor scooter made by Palmer Industries of Endicott, NY. The one pictured above is the same kind my Dad owned and used for many years. He would drive it to a nearby grocery store, get his groceries, then bring the groceries back in the storage bin. For many years the scooter allowed him the independence of being able to go to the grocery store on his own. He would even walk the family dog while using the scooter. Since the dog was small he would sometimes ride back on the scooter!

The Twosome model, which is the one my Dad owned, is a two person scooter that has a range of 25-50 miles. Two marine batteries power everything and need to be periodically recharged. The controls work a bit like a motorcycle where you turn the handlebars to accelerate. Many types of terrain should not be a problem. We would take my Dad’s on many grassy and slightly gravely areas without problem. Obviously there are limits but their scooters should be able to handle most of the places people would go. There are many options that can be added onto all of Palmer Industries’s scooters such as a canopy, windshield, wheelchair holder, and speedometer. I would recommend certain options for safety reasons like the amber light strobe, safety flag, slow moving vehicle sign, and directional signals. All the options available are shown below.

Afraid of running out of battery juice while riding out and about? Well Palmer Industries newest model has developed a hybrid model that runs on gasoline also. Allowing for an unlimited range (with gas). Below is an old video of the scooters being used by owners. The video is old and so are some of the models but you will get a good feel for how they run.
