Just from the picture above you can tell this house is going to be quite a nice one. What you see above is a whirlpool room with a bay window and fish tank. Something I wouldn’t mind having in my own home! Note that the wide flat surfaces can be transferred onto from a wheelchair and the floor is tiled and wheelchair friendly. This house with accessibility was designed by San Francisco interior designer Jamie Snavley of Interdesign Studio.

Flooring
Of course if you’re going to have a wheelchair accessible home, you need to make sure a wheelchair can move about easily. So the flooring in the house is almost all tile which is laid down in beautiful designs and patterns. Above you’ll see a transition from a tile area to a low pile carpet or rug. Notice that both surfaces are flush in height with each other.

The Kitchen
Here is the one of the kitchens (yes one of the kitchens) which is wheelchair accessible. The cooktop stove and counter space around is roll-under. Built into the wall are the microwave and ovens which are at a wheelchair friendly height. The colors and patterns of the floor match and mimic the colors and shapes of the rest of the kitchen.

The Bathroom & More Sinks
Next is a large and accessible bathroom with a beautiful nautical star tiled into the floor. A look that is used throughout the house. Behind the half wall is a roll-in shower with perhaps the highest ceiling for a shower there is. The dark green walls match the green in the nautical star. To the left is a roll-under sink and counter. I would recommend  covers over the water lines to prevent scalding of the legs from the hot water lines. Below are other examples of roll-under sinks in the house.

Movies and More
With a house of this size there has to be a movie room. An accessible one with a popcorn maker and roll-under wet bar. A house this size would also have to have an outdoor area with another roll-under counter. All seen below.
