Having a house with a yard is the dream of many people and their families. The problem is lawn work is … a lot of work. For many people with disabilities, they have to depend on others for lawn care or give up their lawns all together. If friends or family members are unable to help, paying for help can be pricey. Even the smallest yards can cost $120 a month to have mowed on a weekly basis. Another option now available for those unable to mow a lawn on their own is a robotic lawnmower. Recently LawnBott released their newest electric robotic lawnmower, the LB1200 Spyder.

Features
What makes the Spyder different from other robotic lawnmowers is that it doesn’t need a perimeter wire. Other robotic lawnmowers need a perimeter wire  to know where not to go. Sensors on the Spyder detect when it’s over grass and will reverse direction when encountering sidewalks, flower beds, etc. Since it’s an electric mower, there’s little maintenance other than making sure the battery is charged. No filling up with gas or maintaining an engine. There’s also no bagging because it’s also a mulching mower. Hilly yards up to 27° can be mowed by the Spyder but will probably use more battery. The battery itself is supposed to last up to 5 hours per full charge.

Things to Consider
The Spyder is made for smaller yards of 5,500 sqft or under. If you have a larger yard then LawnBott has other models available. There are a few drawbacks to the Spyder model. Programming a set mowing pattern is not available for this model so getting the whole lawn mowed could take some time. Programmable models start at $3,400 while the Spyder is $1,200. The other concern is theft. Weighing only 18 lbs, someone could easily pick up the Spyder and go. So unless you trust your neighbors or have a very private yard, keeping an eye on it during mowing might be a must.

Conclusions
Bottom line, the Spyder is a nice option for those who want to keep their yard but are unable to mow the lawn themselves. Just keep in mind the possible drawbacks.
