Bad Design Style: Case #32

Redesign for accessibility gone wrong

Well, with some adaptive equipment I suppose a person on the toilet could reach the toilet paper. Maybe Stretch Armstrong wouldn’t have any problems but just about everyone else would. Stating the obvious, the toilet paper hold was installed on the wrong wall here.

I think I actually know what happened here. This toilet paper roll holder with seat cover dispenser was too big to fit on the other wall because of the grab bar. This holder/dispenser is fine for the other toilet stalls but they needed another one that would work with the accessible stall. Especially since there’s already a toilet seat cover above the toilet.

Luckily this is an easy fix and only requires installing an appropriate toilet paper holder on the correct wall. Another case of “how did this get by so many people?”
